I have a 91 T-5 (W/ world class gears) in my Mustang with the 8 tooth gear.
Right now I run a 23 Tooth speedo gear and my speedometer is only off by
4 Mph (3.73 rearend gear). However, now is it the gear in the tail that
the driveshaft goes onto that you change or is it the little plastic gear
inside the tranny that the speedo cable goes into?? I thought it was the
latter. Can it easily be changed at home once the tranny is out or does
the entire tranny have to be opened up? I've never taken the time to
learn the internals of transmissions, so I'm curious here. I have the
tranny out right now while I'm going through the motor for next year, so
this would be the perfect time to change it..

All right, this answers my Q&A on my previous response.

>>Right now I run a 23 Tooth speedo gear and my speedometer is only off by 4
Mph (3.73 rearend gear).<<
Keep in mind that you are off by 4 mph at a certain speed. But it is a
ratio. If you are off by 4 mph at 60 mph indicated, then you are off by 8
mph at 120 mph indicated and off by 2 mph at 30 mph indicated.
