My apologies to those outside the region, but there's no really good
way to limit the distribution geographically.
This is the last call for entries for the 1994 Nor Cal Shelby American
Automobile Club Mini Nats. This is the largest West Coast gathering
of Shelby, Cobra, and all types of high performance Ford-powered
vehicles. It is a 3 day event, to be held this year at Sears Point
International Raceway in Sonoma, California, just north of San
Francisco. The dates for this event are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday,
June 24-26. This is next weekend!
The event will consist of 3 days of open track driving (divided into
groups by car prep and driver experience), a Friday popular-vote car
show, Friday eventing wine and cheese social after the last checkered
flag, a Saturday evening BBQ, and three days of vendor expo and swap
meet in Sears Point's spacious paddock.
If your are interested in participating in the event as a driver,
putting a car in the Car Show, or going to the BBQ, please contact
Walt Boeninger ((email redacted)) directly, ASAP. He can
get you the entry forms, registration materials, and car prep
requirements, and you can just bring them with you to the event.
Normally, this event is open to pre-registered participants only, but
this year we're making an exception for last-minute entries. We will
even take registrants at the track proper, *as long as we know you're
coming* before Wednesday, June 22.
We have space available in the Open Track for cars on Friday and
Sunday, and driving instruction will be available. Space on Saturday
is extremely limited. All that is needed to participate in the Open
Track is a mechanically sound, safe, street-legal car with a 2.5lb
fire bottle mounted inside, and a Snell 85 or better helmet. Track
event entry fee is $140/car/day.
If you would simply like to come up and participate in the Swap Meet,
and watch and listen as every type of high-performance vehicle that
has worn the Blue Oval is put through its paces at the track, then
come on up. Admission to the track and swap meet is *free*, making it
one of the last great bargains left in the world. IMHO, of course!
There's nothing like the sights, sounds and smells of a racing paddock
on a fine summer's day. It's even better when there are none of those
pesky GM products in the way. There will be everything from Shelby
Mustangs to GT40s (and I think even a Gulf Mirage!) being wrung out on
track, so it will truly be a Ford fan's dream event. If you like the
sound of a big-block Cobra at full song, and the smell of hot brakes
and race gas, this is the place to be. It's a hell of a lot better
than your standard mall parking lot car show.
If you haven't ever been to a Nor Cal SAAC event, make this one your
first. Come on out and join the fun! For up to date info, you can also
call the Nor Cal SAAC Hotline, at (408)374-1298.
See you at the track!
