0-100-0? Thats Cobra territory, isn't it? I thought part of the Cobra
legend was that it was on a VERY short list of production cars which
could do 0-100-0 in 10 seconds or less. I hadn't heard about the Sierra
RS200 (Evolution). What's the deal?

All:

A car mag, I think Road and Track or Motor Trend, did a 0-100-0 test
of the fastest cars in america. They also included a fresh, origional
Shelby Cobra 427, along with a ton of other cars. The also had a Kawasaki
(SP?) ZX-11 there to let it try for the record.

If I remember correctly, a cobra in the '60's was reported to go 0-100-0
in 13 seconds. No other car tested has ever come close to this figure.

The Mazda RX-7, which is one quick street car with excellent brakes,
could only manage something like 19 seconds. The Porsche 911 carrera
4 won the competition with a time of about 16 seconds. It's rear weight
bias helps is tremendously in traction and braking. The motorcycle
did it in something like 9.5 - 10 seconds. The cobra that was used
in the test did not come close to the 13 second mark. I will have
to try and find the article to get the exact stats if anyone is interested.

As far as the RS2000 that someone mentioned with 750 HP, that was not
the production car...it was one of the world rally cars. No doubt
it is fast, but you can't go to the store and pick one up. Hell, I
bet and indy car or F1 car could do 0-100-0 in 10 seconds or less.
I believe the RS2000 you buy in europe has something like 250 HP and
runs 0-60 in just under 6 sec.

Later,

Mike

it was road and track, and if you remember, the Cobra that they tested
broke(valvetrain) so they got the numbers via creative math.
With this deviation, it beat out all cars except the Porsce 911 turbo,
and the bike. Still not bad for 30 year old technology, IMHO

I have the article if anyone wants all the numbers...
