working with fiberglass?

Hey guys,
I am trying to help a friend install a fiberglass shelby style front
valence on his 68. Its from Mustangs Plus, designed for a 67-68...
The way it seems to me is that the front edge is laid back to far, when
you match up the tabs on the headlight buckets to the valence, it won't
match up with the fenders. Likewise if you match it with the fenders,
the top edge is about an inch back from the headlight buckets...
The guy at Mustangs Plus said to try calling Maier, I am doing that
tomorrow. Anyone here done this?
If so do you have tips?
Or any tips for general use regarding playing with fiberglass?

calling Maier would be a good idea. i got a 'glass trunk lid from them a
few weekes ago. when it found its way here , all the way to indiana , a
corner had been broken off.
i use fiberglass at work a lot so i called maier , just to see if the
way i would fix it at work is the same way they would fix it in their shop.
when you call , ask for Bill (Maier that is , the owner). he's a really
nice guy and can explain to you how to fix your problem.
i , myself , cant vision what you are trying to describe as your fitting
problem. i dont know much about the way a '68 bolts together. i am a 65-66
man.....
i do know this much....you can "bend" it to fit if its not too far off.
just apply a little heat from a heat gun. not too much , the 'glass will
melt. a little heat will soften it up a bit , allowing you to bend it to
where it needs to be.
you can also add a little resin here and there , or sand an edge down
with 80 grit paper. you can grind an edge , but if you are not "up to
practice" on grinding fiberglass its easy to severely screw it up. use the
80 grit paper on a DA sander or a sanding block to keep the edge flat.
if you want to add some resin , email me off the list , and i will fill you
in on how to do it. (same for anyone else)
its really easy to do , and it works great for filling in chips and pits.
