windshield removal+hipo mounts

Hello Mustangers,
Does anyone have any tips on how to remove, without breaking, the
winshield and rear glass? I'd like to get these things out before the
sandblasting process so they won't get damaged and so they can really get
into every little corner.
OK, now for the Hi-Po question. What's the deal with the Hi-Po
engine mounts? Just stronger? Lighter? This car is going to be a race car,
so I'm especially interested in the changes Ford made to the Hi-Po's.

when I took my windows out, the seals were pretty much vulcanized, and the
chrome trim (yeech!!) wasn't on, this is a cross section of the seal and the
window....

Where "A" is the outer part of the seal....I simply cut it with a razor
blade where it stopped overlapping the window....after that, you simply pry
(gently!) the window out.....the next part is where you find the guk that
Ford left for you under the seal...some sort of radioactive sealant stuff,
that somehow (at least in my case) is still soft....

As far as tbe back glass, this is a relatively simple job which 2 people
can remove in a few minutes (carefully). First, cut the weatherstrip
from the inside so that you can see all metal edges. Then, with one
person on the outside to stabilize/catch the windshield, the other should
lay down and push the back glass firmly (but gently, with increasing
pressure) with his feet. It will pop right out. Carefully pull it out
and put it somewhere it will not be disturbed. As far as the windshield,
I would recommend to most to find a glass shop to do this. They are not
terribly expensive (they took mine out and put it back for $45) and know
more about it than the rest of us. . .

detailed article in which they remove and reinstall the windshield and
back glass from there '68 fastback project.

I have had two 65 coupe media blasted and they don't really need the whole
glass taken out. They would like you to pop up and remove the mouldings tho.
Of course if you want to put on new weatherseal, than you have no choice but
to remove the glass. I would have a professional tell you how; you may need
a suction cup to lift it out. What I did was have the car media blasted
within a 1/8 inch of the trim then I used paint remover to gently remove the
paint. By the way, I hope you are not using sand, I had them use plastic
beads and it only took 20 minutes for the whole car and left a shiny patina
finish.
