Does anyone if 225x60x15 tires will fit on the front of my 66 coupe? I
have 620# springs, upper control arms lowered 1" and need new tires.
According to some web tire size calculators, the size is less than 1"
taller than stock.

I'm running 235x60x15 in the rears without any problems.

Thanks,
rick

I ran 225x60x15 tires on the front of my '68 for years, or was it 215?
I forget. Now I'm running 245/50/16 tires (with no fender rolling).

The secret is in the correct backspacing of the rim.

It somewhat depends on what wheels you are running, but I know they
won't work on my '65. If you have enough backspacing to clear the
fender, the inside of the tire will hit the upper control arm. I've run
215/60/15 on the front without much issue. The 67/68 cars have a little
more room up there.

IIRC, it was 4.5" backspacing. I'm running an 8" wide wheel though, so
that makes things a little different.

I pulled off an old wheel and I have 4" backspacing on a 6.5" wheel. I
haven't bought new front tires and the old ones (205x55x15) don't hold air.

I'm leaning to 215's.

Thanks for everyone's help.

i take that back. after reading your other posts.....my wheels are 15x7 ,
with 4 1/2" backspace. if yours are 15x8 , it is possible you'll have some
rubbing. i think you'll be ok though , the tread width will still be the same
regardless of the wheel width.

Hello,

The big issue is your is your back spacing.

If this is not correct you will have problems with your front suspension and
or rear leaf springs.
