Before I started pulling the car apart and replacing
gaskets I took it in and got a second opinion on the
white smoke. The shop said the choke in the carb is
sticking due to the fact that I didn't have the heater
hose up over the clip on the side of the carb and
because I put headers on and the choke tube isn't
pulling enough hot air off of them. The smoke was
excess fuel from the carb. He said that if a cylinder
was filling up with gas then it would be darker gray
or black, but it was just a small problem. He said the
majority of it cleared up once they put the heater
hose back into the clip on the carb. (I had no idea it
was actually supposed to be on there.)

I guess I'll try that copper tubing idea for the choke
tube. Apparently just clamping it to the header isn't
really working.
