Hi all,
I have the "Deluxe Seatbelts" option in my 69 Mach 1. While dismantling
the interior, I actually found two buckles on each side. I don't have
any shoulder belts, and can't see anywhere they could attach anyway.
So, did 69 FBs ever come with shoulder belts, or have I got some
bench seat belts or some such installed?
Thanks,
Chris.

My '68 has them, as do many '68s (and perhaps all coupes an fastbacks?).
I would imagine that with the progress of Ford's "Lifeguard Safety
Features", the '69s did as well. Since you have two receptacles at the
other end, I would guess that someone removed the shoulder belts earlier
in the car's life.
Remember that seat belts weren't the most popular things in the world
back then. Few people bothered with lap belts, let alone a shoulder
harness with a second buckle. Also, the system for "hanging" the
shoulder straps when they were not in use wasn't great. They would often
fall or hang down, perhaps "in the way" for someone.
If I had to guess, I'd say that the belts were removed, but not the
latches. Then perhaps a subsequent owner had the headliner redone, with
the mounting points being covered over. Just a thought.

'68 fastback (Bullitt replica)
'89 Merkur XR4Ti (hey, it's a Ford)
