First, I would like to thank all who have responded on primers for
welding sheet metal together. It was a great help.
Second, I have read articles that say you need to get rid of all lead
filler at the seams as it will have an adverse effect under some paints.
Can anyone help me on this?

I'm using PPG DPX171 self etching primer as the beginning coat. I
haven't picked any of the additional primers. I will use PPG base coat /
clear coat.

What paint/primer do you intend to use? I don't know of any
interactions between urethanes/epoxies and lead.
