Hi guys,
Please put your feelers out for a kickdown rod for a '70 Mach 1, 351C with FMX trans. Does anyone you know have one they want to sell, rent out for a week or maybe perhaps have one that needs rebuilding/new bushings, etc? We need one to use it for a template to make one. stan48312 at yahoo.com

Call Colorado Mustang at 877-687-8864. They have a HUGE supply of old
Mustang parts & several hundred 'stangs in a salvage yard.

I built one for a C-4 a while back. Don't know how close they are to the FMX.
Don't laugh, but I used a thin walled aluminum mop handle. I filled it with play sand and bent it around a tree untill I though it was close. Test fit, bend some more, test fit etc. untill I got the curve right. I then, with sand still in it, started flatening both sides with a vise and two blocks of wood. At some point I had to remove the sand and kept pressing it down untill flat. If I remember right, I cut a piece of sheet aluminum to fit inside the now almost closed opening then crimped it all flat. The idea was to add a little strength, Drilled holes for the linkage on both sides, paint stripped it then polished. Perty...shinny and works.
It's long gone now, I converted to EFI and use a Lokar cable. In fact you may be able to get a Lokar get up for carbs and FMX.

I just Goggled it and found this:

mercurycougar.net/forums/showthread.php?p=7581

It's another chat thing and someone posted pictures. Its a little more curvy than what I built for the C-4 but I think its still doable.

The Lokar part number for a ford FMX is KD-2FMXHT
