Hey guys,

I'm looking for a '65 (rod style) auto trans kickdown lever for my '66
Mustang, which is using a '65 transmission. The part that I'm looking for
is the rod that runs along the firewall from the bellcrank to the trans. If
you have one that you'd like to sell, please email me privately. Also, if
you have ever fabricated one yourself for whatever reason, I'd like to know
how you did it.

Thanks,

Tom

I've only seen the kickdown rod in one catalog, John's Mustang in Houston.
It's on page 43, costs $99.99 and includes the whole assembly.
No cheap, but if you need one, you need it.
Their phone number is 800-869-6894.
regards,
Jesse

Howdy, I made one for my 70 ( 82 302 and c-4 edelbrock carb) out of a
solid galvanized rod about the size of a large pencil. Got it from a fencing
supply place. I have no clue what they use it for but it works great. One
end had an I hook on it and the other was threaded. The I hook was to big so
I cut it off.......
I just bent another hook on both ends ( cut and bent to shape ) with a
torch and pair of noodle nose pliers. On my first try I got it a little to
hot it sort of cracked and broke off. I then hammered them flat, ground the
edges a little thinner with a bench grinder, and drilled the holes to be
more round and to fit over the transmission and carb linkage. I later heated
the whole thing just enough to burn off the galvanize, sanded it smooth, and
sprayed it ford blue. I had a little trouble with it hanging up on the " E "
clamps at first. The fix was to grind it thinner and put a flat washer
between it and the clamp with a shot of silicone spray. Its worked great for
a year now. Hope you can get something out off this!
