I'm looking for a set of original front lap belts for my 1970 Mach 1. =
Only need the lap belts, have the rest. Prefer black, must be in =
mechanically excellent condition, don't care about chrome condition.

Alternatively, if anyone has experience repairing weak recoil springs in =
these lap belt assemblies, I'd like to hear from you. After dumping =
hundreds of dollars into Ssssnake Oyl's pockets to restore my belts, and =
sending them back for a second try, I'm still stuck with front searbelts =
that jam most of the time they're used. Seems the spring on one is quite =
weak, and Ssssnake Oyl's less-than-accurate webbing is pretty floppy =
compared to original which makes things even worse. Apparently Sssnake =
Oyl doesn't do mechanical restoration from what I can tell. Am I the =
only one with jamming '70 seatbelt problems, or have any of the other =
'70 owners here fought this battle and won?

Thanks!
Jon E.

Jon,

You might try talking to the folks at Dallas Mustang Parts. I understand that they
also recondition seat belts, and the price is a lot better than Ssnake-oyls'. I
haven't used them myself but I'm leaning that way when the time is right.

I, too have had problems with the recoils in my 70 Mach. I just bought a
good used replacement and it's ok so far. I think I have some extra some
extra lap belts, but they're either green or blue, but I've already painted
some for mine and they look good. You just need the half that latches into
the recoil half, right? I'll look and get back with you.

Thanks Scott... and Sharon... I'm looking more closely at the recoil
mechanism right now and may be just looking to replace parts from that. I'm
finding it to be more serviceable than I first thought. Sharon, my original
message may not have been specific enough - it's the recoil part I'm looking
for, *not* the short bit that bolts to the tunnel. Please let me know if
you've got two recoils with good springs and how much you might want for
them.

Jon

Jon

No, sorry, I don't have the recoil parts. Good luck.

Sharon
