I may not know a great deal about Mustangs, but I have been involved in
purchasing for over 20 years. There are a few points that I would like to add
to this thread:

1. Used parts and NOS are unique items. No two are the same. If you find an
item that meets your needs and budget, buy it.

2. Repro parts seem to have relatively few manufacturers, in most cases.
Therefore, the retailers offer basically the same items. Decide on the
manufacturer or quality of the part first and then see what suppliers carry
it.

3. What sets retailers apart is service, knowledge, reliability etc. and of
course price. Think of Home Depot vs. the neighborhood hardware store. Home
Depot is a fine store with very competative pricing. I believe that the
neighborhood hardware store can offer you better service, greater knowledge
and a personal relationship, but you will pay more in most cases. You need to
decide what YOUR needs are and how much the "extras" are worth to YOU. If you
are seasoned Mustanger, you probably can just go for the least costly
supplier. If your a "backyare mechanic" like me, the added advise and
knowledge you get from the local supplier may be worth the cost.

I sat down and put together an elaborate spreadsheet comparing the prices
on about 100 items from almost twenty suppliers of Mustang parts. Guess
what....no single supplier has the lowest prices on everything. I have
purchased parts from several sources but now gravitate toward two "local"
suppliers: Mustang's Unlimited and Classic Mustang, both in CT (I live in
(NH). Both have done fine by me. I have visited both companies. They are
both well stocked neat and organized.

My preference is for Classic. They seem to be more knowledgeable and I
appreciate their personal attention and service. They have a complete data
base on my car in their computer, are very patient and helpful and seem to
appreciate my business.
