The distributor and carb will move together so that's not a concern
anymore than the hard fuel line from the pump to the carb is if you
have one of those.
So as long as you can set the timing, I see no problem

Paul,
Of my 3 cars I've got all sorts of combinations of rigid and rubber tubing.
The one that has a rigid line from the carb to the dist works just fine even
when I have to adjust the timing. Typically you're only moving the
distributor just a few degrees so it's no big deal. When the engine torques
all the parts move together so not a problem.
The rigid is more original but the rubber tubing works just as well.

Subject: [CM] Vacuum line to carb question
Hi all--
Getting ready to replace the vacuum line from the dist to the carb on the 66
(289 Autolite 4100). The one I have is some sort of rigged rubber hosing.
Got the line and new fitting for the dist--someone added the incorrect one
to run the rubber tubing--but my question is this. Is the whole line is
solid--ie no rubber tubing anywhere from dist to carb? (I ask this because
of adjusting the distributor and/or torque moving the engine slightly.)
Should I just leave it be? It isn't pretty, but it works.
As always, thanks to y'all!
