Anyone?

I need to rebuild my upper control arms, shafts and bushings (1971
convertible), this in itself is not a problem for me.

What I would like to know is your opinions, especially any
experiences, on:

1. Rebuild back to stock
2. Replace the entire A-arm unit - NOS or Reproduction
3. Rebuild with the intent to change from the (stock) aluminum cap
bushing to a Poly-U bushing set up - somewhat like early arms or
Chebby arms.
4. Replace A-arms with new style tubular units

My desire for this car is to drive it. Mechanical goals are good
handling, longevity, minimal maintenance and fun. There may be a rare
street show or get together but not concours trailer class stuff.

When I rebuilt the front end of my '66, I got new upper control
arm shafts, bushings, o-rings, and used the original A-arms. The
factory manual has a pretty good description on how to assemble
the shafts. I can fax you the one page description for my '66
if you want.

Replacing the control arm will be easier. Make sure you have
90 degree zerk fittings to grease the bushings. It is easier to add
these when the arms are out. And don't over fill with grease;
the o-rings may get blown out (something I did back in '77?).
