Hi all....
Having just bought my 66 coupe, here in Australia, I would like to know what
the original licence plate number was in the US. (I plan to register it here
with that number..)
I guess that it could be traced from the VIN.. and it was an ex California
vehicle.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance...
Kevin

Unless you have an early pink slip/ ownership papers (or even early
insurance or repair paperwork)there is no way to do this.
If the car was an original Calif car (not one brought into the state
after it was new) the car would have recieved one of a specific set of
letters to start the lic number. You can at least get original plates
with the correct series for the car
Just one way to help (not the only way for sure) to tell if the car
might be an original CA car.
Hope this helps

Kevin,
Did you buy the car from a dealer, or a private party? If you bought the car
from a dealer, like Mustang Country DownUnder, I can probably help getting you
the info, if you bought the car from a private party, ask them if they have any
of the original paperwork.
Also check the glovebox for original registrations, California cars have the
license plate number in the top corner.
Hope this helps,
Karl
