Does anyone have this offhand? I've got a standard-plain-jane 14" open
air filter on top of my 289. The Fram books recommend CA133 or CA148
but those are all the smallish ones. I picked up a CA136 which IS 14"
but WAY too tall.

PS: if someone knows of a better filter than a FRAM every 7-10K I am
all ears...

Get a K&N filter. You clean it rather than replacing it, and they are less
restrictive on air flow. Cost more up front but you will save over time.
Best way to find the size you want (for any type of filter) is take your air
cleaner to your local parts store and start opening boxes until you find one
that's just right.

if you are talking about the original air cleaner for a 289 than it is the
ca133....its only about 10 inches dia. it sits in the air cleaner on the
flat area a few inches in from the sides. there is a lot of space between
the filter and the outer sides of the air cleaner itself....
