I replaced the sender about 4 years ago when I cleaned & sealed the gas
tank. That may have been a mistake cuz the new one already died. I noticed
when I bought it that it was nowhere near as well-made as the original. My
catalogs don't list an NOS or Ford replacement. Are the ones now available
all the same (cheap import)?

I know Ford sells them new for the 65-68 tanks.. and they are a
lot better quality than the 29.95 repops.... and for over 90 bucks
they better be.......I had a cheap repop crack and leak after several years.

Don't know about the later tanks.

pricing....

Ron,
When you say "do better on pricing", you mean for a Ford part?
The last catalog I have that still shows an original Ford sender for a 70
was in 2000 and it was nearly $120.00 then so it was probably already
discontinued. 65-68 are still available but the tanks were smaller then so
I don't think I could use one in my 70. That leaves me with the $30 repops
from the various catalogs. These all look the same to me. There is a
seller on eBay listing an all-stainless sender priced between cheap import
and Fomoco but I wouldn't know if it's REALLY any better.

I could check for you, if I have a part number. My son happens to work for
Ford in wholesale parts, and those guys have access to quite a few sources we do
not know about.

According to NPD's catalog the fuel tanks they sell are domestically made
(US or Canada)
