I just got back my 66 289 C4 conv from a professional transmission rebuild.
The shop was really great about all my specific requests like not painting
it silver and taking some extra care to ensure that it will remain leakproof
for a long time to come. They even used my shop manual which I left laying
on the passengers seat.............However

I now have a nasty sound from the starter while it is cranking. It sounds
like something grinding while the starter spins. After startup, no more
noise. I haven't been under the car to take a look yet but I thought
someone might know what this might be.

A recent post mentioned some vibration at idle and when not under power.
The rubber in my transmission mount fell out when removed, it was shot a
long time ago. Replacement has reduced vibration in my car a bunch. The
weather was absolutely beautiful here in the mid Atlantic area this weekend
for top down crusing and all the shouts, points and admirers made all the
money I just put in the car a real bargain.

Thanks

Jim
