late 65 convertible 289 Automatic Power Steering

My steering feels loose and real floaty on the road. I have had it
looked at and been told the components are OK. I have seen several
notes on adjusting the steering for wear. Is this done on the early
cars? I have the control valve and piston type with the Eaton Pump.
It may just be me, I am used to small cars and Rack and Pinion
steering.
Thanks Jeff

Early Mustangs with PS are prone to feel "floaty".

If you're sure the front end is in good shape, you might try different
alignment setting.

Set your caster to +2 degrees, Camber to 0 degrees, and toe in to 1/8".

If you live in an are where the roads have a lot of "crown" in the center,
reduce the caster on the left by 1/4 degree and add 1/8 degree positive
camber to the left wheel.

I also lowered the upper control arms. instructions on how are in the Tony
Branda catalog.

This tightened up my car considerably.
