Hello all... I am in a dilemma sad smiley I ordered a set of Tri-Y Headers and a
H-pipe from Stainless Works back in October and so far I've heard nothing.
I've tried calling them MANY times but the last successful attempt was early
January. They promised me that the headers would be coming soon,
unfortunately my car is out of inspection since December and the NC DMV does
not look upon this favorably.

Does anyone know of another company that makes stainless Tri-Y's? I already
have the stainless exhaust (including an H-pipe) so I'd be willing to look
at other alternatives in stainless - help!

Thanks!

Paul

Paul,

I looked into this some months ago; unfortunately, I believe that Stainless
Works is in fact the only supplier at the present time (and I, too, was
concerned about their ability to deliver on time).

You could go with ceramic-coated JBA shorties (depending on your vehicle) to
mate up with the stainless (try Mustangs Plus, specify "JS" part no. version of
the JBA's they carry) or have an supplier ceramic coat standard Tri-Y's.
Depending on your mate-up stainless tubes, is it not possible for you to go with
standard (or HiPo) cast iron headers (various suppliers)?

Thanks Mark for your suggestions. The stainless exhaust I have (not on the
car yet) is made for HiPo headers. I saw some shorties too! Ford makes
some but nothing for early models (I'm thinking the reason is there's
probably not enough clearance for them). The car is a '66 289-A code. I
have some aluminized full headers up in the attic I think I could use but I
guess ultimately I was looking for a combination of original looks, quality,
and performance... I just don't know of the HiPo's would fit the bill???

Not quite on the topic, but does anyone know of a place
making Tri-Y headers in a larger primary tube? My 302
is a little too built for the "classic" Tri-Y, but I'd
still like the look...

I thought I'd give you an update on my exhaust circumstance... Ron from
Stainless Works called and said that they had just gotten in a new machine
that would solve their production problems. He assured me that they would
have the headers out no later than 2 weeks. He seemed really sincere about
everything so I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt. Now I just
have to figure how to avoid the law a little longer smiling smiley
