In response to the topic below I submit a suggestion for solving the
ever-leaking Mustang PS control valve.
Exchange it for a mid 70's Granada PS control valve. Ford upgraded the
fittings in the mid 70's to use rubber o-rings. I found a '78 Granada PS
control valve at a local boneyard and rebult it myself. Got new hoses from
the local parts shop and was good to go. No leaks at all. I believe 6
cylinder Granada hoses route exactly like V8 Mustang hoses...at lease mine
do. The v8 Granada hoses are different somehow....but memory fails me on
exactly why. I do recall purchasing both '78 Granada V8 and 6 cyl hoses and
taking the v8 set back since there were so different form stock classic
Mustang shape.
FWIW,
Brian

The leaks I've experienced are at the boot covering the ball stud. I've
tried getting rebuilt control valves and even pulled and rebuilt valves off
salvage yards that looked like they were not leaking, only to have the
assemblies drip from around the boot. I figured it was Fords way of self
lubricating the ball socket and stud assembly, even though you are suppoed
to fill that party with grease via the grease fitting.
When I was getting my Granada spindles this summer I happened to notice the
vehicle had the same power steering setup as our Mustangs and that the spool
valve assy was as close to the tie rod mount was a 65 was. I was debating
on going back and pulling the drag link assy and seeing if it would work on
my 65. It's a project I'm wanting to look into over the winter months.
