Hello Everybody,

When I was rebuilding my console on my 66 convertible, I also needed to check the shift indicator lamp underneath. It looks like a bullet with a hole in the top. Is there a way to change the bulb inside the bullet, as it does not appear to come apart? Does anybody know the trick to replace the bulb?

Thanks again,

Colin Wood

It comes apart. I can't remember if its pull-off or screw-off but it
comes apart. I'm about to upgrade mine to an LED in the near future,
so hold that thought.

You have to squeeze the bottom legs of the "bullet" together. The
legs have flanges that clip into the slot, so it's just held in place by
tension. I just use a flat head screwdriver to to compress one leg and then
pull the sucker out. I don't have a console though, so not sure if yours
is different.
