I am currently restoring my 65 Fastback's seatbelts. My first question
pertains to the bolt attachments. I have seen both a silver finish, and
a gold finish. Which is correct for my year and model?

My car is a 289C, Automatic, Air Conditioning, Manual Disk Brakes,
Manual Steering, built in San Jose, late 65. no original belts in the
rear seat area. Standard dark blue interior.

My second question is........has anybody had experience with Ssnake-Oyl
restorations?

Thank You,

Randy

Randy, I used Ssnake-Oyl & the seatbelts they sent me are GORGEOUS!! It takes
about a month to a month & 1/2 for them to refurbish a set. They will
refurbish yours OR refurbish a set they have in stock. Believe it or not the
deluxe belts are cheaper! I think it cost $120 for 2 front seatbelts & all
attaching hardware (bolts& spacers). They can even swap the labels from your
original belts to the new ones if you supply your own.

Really REALLY nice result. I sent them a pair of 68 front shoulder
belts, asked them to swap a 67 buckle instead, and refinish them. The
result is gorgeous, the quality is great. I'll send the rest of my
belts... when the car starts to look like a car again!

Yes, they have nice results... and they may be the only outlet...
They are very expensive though. Expect to spend $100 per seat...

I sent them a pair of 64 1/2 belts. They sent back 65 belts. Without
the plastic covers at the ends... And charged me as if I hadn't sent
in my belts at all... So I demanded my parts back (and got them,
to their credit...). In my opinion, my "chrome parts" were just
fine (and if you have read the rest of my posts, you know I'm picky),
they only had to replace the belts (which they claim they do, no
matter what you send in, that is the basis of their minimum $50
a seat charge), and replace the plastic buckles ($6 on their price
sheet)...

So, if your parts are trashed, you'll be pleased... If you have something
relatively minor, they are going to be very expensive... The results
will be wonderful, but very expensive...

Just something to keep in mind...

Rich
