I recently purchased my first Mustang, a '69 Convertible with what seems
to be a pretty rare option - "FW" interior trim code. Many sources don't
even list this as a possibility, but the "Mustang Secret Decoder" at
<mercury.net/~mach1/mustang-decoder.html> lists it as "White
Vinyl and White Knitted Vinyl with Black, Hi-Back, Luxury Interior"

According to the guy at the local shop, the best match would be upholstery
for a 69 Shelby convertible, because it's the "only" convertible with
high-back seats. According to him, convertible seats are narrower than
others and require a different fit. The (not very good) picture I saw of
these seats looked different than what I had, but close enough. The car
has a '74 302 and will be a daily driver, so I'm not overly concerned with
stock appearance.

Also, I've noticed that most shops seem so source from either TMI or
Distinctive. Do they produce quality upholstery? Can anyone recommend for
or against any upholstery manufacturer or mail order outlet?

Finally, the rest of the interior needs a bit of sprucing up as well and I
was wondering what exactly "luxury interior" means. The body code is "76B"
and I have a "worn woodgrain" brown steering wheel that has a rimfire
strip, even though the horn operates via a button labeled "rear release"
where the pony decal should be sad smiley. I don't have deluxe door panels or
woodgrain above the glove box or on the instrument panel.

Even if it was stock, I'm afraid I won't be able to restore this to luxury
interior standards because of the exceedingly expensive parts for a 69.
$500 for a woodgrain steering wheel? $400 for a dash pad? $100/each for
convertible windshield pillar weather strip? Ouch! I knew I should have
gotten that '67...

Thanks in advance,
Brian

I've seen this interior in a couple of cars. It looks very similar if
not exactly like the '70 deluxe seats. You could use the '70 deluxe seat
covers but you will have to get it custom made in white because white
was not available in '70.

You might try Ford Brothers for some of you missing parts.
