I am really glad SB-42 passed! In installing my 5.0 engine in my 66, I
took some liberties with the smog rules. Since I used a 66 block, I was
going to attempt to get it smogged as the 66 export car it is. I left
off the AIR pump, tank purge, and cats. I did use the EGR though. The
only thing that the 66 was supposed to have that I lacked was an
enclosed air cleaner with heat riser. I would have a hard time
explaining that! I also used a little bit of a cam.....
Next project might just have to be a 67 coupe with a 460 with a big old
carb! Don't worry, I would only use a throw away type of car, well, to
those in the rust belt, It would be a cherry.
Last weekend, I took a trip up to Stockton to see the Ronster at
Mustangs Plus. It is taking the Mustang modifying to new heights. It
used to be that if you modified a stang, you did what Shelby did, and
nothing else. Any other mods were deeply frowned upon. THe Ronster is
the first car I have seen that trandsends that old way of thinking. I
really liked thew way they removed the dash pad, removed the metal
support, and painted the new dash. While I hate the digital dash, I
like thier use of billet aluminum, and the replacement and welding in of
the old mustang dash. Really neato. I would have liked to see a few
things taken further, but they got on the right track. I can forsee new
ideas with regards to interiors. Even though my 66 has a totally new
powertrain, 16" wheels, etc. I cant seem to get past the stock
interior. Maybe the next car. I still plan to use a totally stock
body, and stock interior, except that I might install a rollcage. It
kind of goes back to the days of street rodding and the "restorod".
What we have today is totally different. I can't wait to see a Chip
Foose or Boyd's Mustang!

It hasn't passed...... its waiting for Wilsons signature... if he does
not or chooses not to get to it before the deadline it will not pass.

Know the car and a number of ideas were borrowed and modified IMHO from
my 66 FiberFab Mustang. Though I didn't care for the finished product it
was alot of work for the guys that built it and it does get alot of
attention (the main plan) Personnaly it didn't go far enough for me...
