Hello List Members,
I need some help from someone with a 70 Mach. I had the front fenders
replaced on my car, and you guessed it, the body man tossed the old fenders
before marking the location for the "Mustang" script emblem between the
wheel opening and door. From pictures it looks like the emblem is centered
horizontally between the wheel opening the rear of the fender, but I need
someone to measure how far above the rocker panel molding it is to the
bottom of the script emblem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jim,
Here's what measured on my car.
Left side: The bottom of the letters (excluding the lower part of the 'g') are 1-3/4" above the molding with the "Mach I".
Right side: 1-1/4" from the bottom of letters to the molding.
Yes, I measured more than once. Go figure. I make no claim for either side being the factory-original location since I don't know the entire history of the car. However, I've never found any collision damage at the front of the car, only in the rear.
YMMV, but doesn't look like location is ultra critical.

I tried to take these measurements on my Mach but found it hard to come up
with a reference to measure from. Measuring to the top of the molding I got
1 3/4" and 1 1/4" but it doesn't look to me like my moldings are located at
the same place on the fenders. So for a couple extra datapoints I measured
from the fender crease to the bottom of the script. And from the edge at
the door opening to the nearest edge of the script. These 2 pictures should
save me about 2000 more words:

wood-workers.com/users/mach70/rightscript.jpg
I know my fenders are original but they do look to have been off the car at
least once. Nothing lines up just right. Interesting how the script is
centered differently on each side. I always assumed the holes were punched
when the fender was stamped but I guess not.

Mark,
Thanks for the additional measurements. I have found two other owners that
have also measured the script location since my first post and they were
different in each case. It seems that the location was pretty much eyeballed
at the factory or dealership.
