Hello,

I remember somebody posting a list of drop-in replacement seats for 65-66
mustangs about a year ago. I can't find the email, nor can I find the
link, if there was one. Does anybody remember this, or does anybody have
such a list? I've seen links on converting late model mustang seats, and
even Honda CRX seats, but I remember the list I saw was for seats that just
bolt-in.

Thanks,

-Jason

Are you looking for stock style or a high back bucket?
If it is the latter I used some ProCar seats by SCAT that I
bought from www.salesco.com. They sell the rails separately
for most cars to include 65-66 mustangs.

Eric

Any seat that will physically fit will probably be easy to adapt. I
have done several. Sometimes it is best to leave whatever original
hardware was bolted to the floor and adapt just above that.

Jason,

I installed a set of Flofit seats in my 65 Fastback.
They are similar to late 80's seats, very comfortable,
and I think that I paid around $900 for them.

I don't recall the company that I purchased them from
but I could find it if you have further interest.

I put a set of Integra GSR seats in my '65 2+2. They worked out fine. I
ultimately decided not to use them in favor of some '73 Mach 1 seats for the
retro look. Anyway, they are on eBay now for cheap if you're interested.
The auction has pictures of the seats and one picture of them mounted in my
mustang. I had to fabricate a couple of mounting rails out of 2" x 3/16"
flat metal, but not a big deal. The rails mounted to the seat bottom and the
original '65 seat rails mounted to them.
Todd.

Yikes smiling smiley

I am thinking of a number MUCH lower than $900 for a pair of seats.
I'm really just looking for something late model, comfy, cheap, and
easy to drop in. I'll even consider them if they are dirty. I can
put covers on them until I can take them to Tijuana for a re-upolstry
(sp?) job. That is one of the benefits of living close to the
border...cheap yet good quality labor on things like that.

Thanks!!

-Jason

Look for 80's Sunbird seats. I used them in the Falcon - nice buckets,
paid $25 each for them and had them recovered for about $100 each. I did
do the furry Walmart seat covers for a while. Don't go there.

i just went to a junkyard , found some cool looking and comfortable seats
(out of a little subaru sports car. and had them recovered for about $120.
had to do a little fabricating to adapt them to the mustang floor pan but it
was easy.

they look just like the $4 million Recarro seats.

Pick-a-part, etc, sell all bucket seats for $20-25. Might as well get
good upholstery.
As for dirt; remove the back from the base, pick a warm day, go out in
the driveway with dish soap, a brush and a garden hose. Don't forget to
chase the spiders out. They'll be dry in a day or so.
