Rebuilt vs Remanufactured

Paul - thanks for noticing. I absolutely agree and I should have been
clearer for everyone. In my alternator post I stated remanufactured -
not rebuilt. The two are worlds apart and nothing similar in function.

'Rebuilt' is defined as only getting the service and parts necessary to
make it function to minimum spec's.

'Remanufactured' means that all components must be replaced or
refurbished to OEM spec's.

These are legal terms in many states. Obviously the rebuilts (no matter
the warranty) may need repetitive replacing. The reman's shouldn't need
service any more than the original did. The item info should clearly
state it's a reman.

Can you imagine the difference (original cost, longevity, servicing
costs and performance) between rebuilt and remanufactured engines or
transmissions?!
