Im in the process of redoing a 9 inch I found. I have decided on 3.00 gears
maybe 3.25 but need info on limited slip diff's. What are you guys useing
for daily drivers with 300+ hp? Im not sure what to buy or where to get it?
Has anyone used a locking type on the street? How bad do they realy screw up
handling? from the stories I have heard I should go with a limited slip but
which to chose?

I run a Detroit Soft-Locker in a 9" with 3.70 gears in my Falcon. It is
very well behaved on the street. There's an occasional strange noise from
the back in a corner. HOWEVER, I'm one o' them drag-racer types, so corner
burning is not what that car is about. Also, we have had very little rain
this year (once in the last 73 days!), so I can't speak for handling in wet
weather. Also not with big & little tires (275-50x15 rear, P185-75x14 ft)
anyway. If you don't intend to drag race the car with any regularity, the
posi would probably serve you well. If you do go to the drags once in a
while, stay out of the water box. I picked the locker SPECIFICALLY because
a good burnout with one tire coming out of the water first can smoke a posi
right quick. And, I intend to beat the shirt out of the car at the strip.
Don't know what tire you'er running, but I had an open 8" with 3.25's
running 225-60x14 BFGs previously and liked those gears very much.
