Hi Gang,
Last night I adjusted the left tail light placement on my '66
coupe. The DPO had mounted the fixture carelessly -- and
crooked -- after an <shoddy> accident repair and I didn't
catch it before the car went for paint. It is now aligned nicely.
The bumper was also out of line, probably resulting from that
same poor quality accident repair. The misalignment can be seen
in this picture, aubard.com/66Mustang/66Mustang06a.jpg
especially at the right-hand end. That tilt is caused by a distortion
in the mounting panel behind the bumper. The bumper itself is
straight. As the distortion also was not repaired before paint, I
am going to have to shim the bumper bracket-to-chassis surfaces
to true the angle of the bumper. I have had to do this before with
British cars. It isn't hard, just time consuming as there are lots of
'put it on / take it off' cycles. This is NOT one to do after too
much coffee.
