hi guys,
i have been busy lining up suppliers for the various bits. man that's a
lot of work. the design has become a bit more robust since i last sent
you a note. two complete prototypes are ready to go. all in all, we're
still on track to start the road test on Jan 1.
Studs: got a great bid from a local mfgr to produce the
adjustment studs.
Center Link: another local machinist to produce these to match the studs.
Spacer Block: same machine shop to produce.
Tie Rods: have a meeting set up with Rare Parts to supply the stock
tie rod ends, and make up some early Mustang units with
late model bodies. they can supply the inner tie
rods too.
U-joint: decided to go with a Woodward unit. there's just no
other way.
i have looked and looked, and scoured the net. i
have been
unable to find an OEM unit that will work.
Steering Shaft: staying with the late 80's Ford unit.
Rack: Jorgen is putting together a bid to give us a good
deal. manual
units will be available. they'll also supply the
mounting bushings.
Brackets: local welding shop is all ready to start making these.
Pressure Line: still to do
many people have asked about how much this is going to cost. i will let you
know for certain as soon as all the bids are secured.
at this point the kit will arrive at your door complete. it will require
you to:
1. drill mounting holes in the brackets.
2. mate the steering shaft to your column.
3. secure the center link to spacer block orientation.
6. adjust center link and tie rod lengths for minimum bump steer.
7. hook up the fluid lines.
P.S. i could use some more measurements. i don't have anything from any
Ranchero, and still need 67-70 Mustang.

hi Tom,
i need the inner frame rail, center link and tie rod measurements.
measure the IFR between the idler arm and steering box surfaces. the center
link and tie rod should be measured between their pivot points...

Hi Guys (and gals ) on the list,
Things are rather quiet on the list at the moment with the festive season
dominating our lives for a change, rather than Mustang activities!
When you have a free moment, you may be interested in reading a short story
I posted, which sets down my experiences of driving a Mustang in New
Zealand. Mustangs are somewhat rarer here than in their native US, so tend
to attract a bit more attention, but I suspect that some of my experiences
will be familiar to US drivers, as well as list members in other countries.
"Theres nothing like a Mustang".

Thank you all for your postings during 2001. I have learned heaps, had much
enjoyment from them, and I look forward to the 2002 offerings.
Seasons greetings to you all

Hi All,
Simple question. What size are the front brake line fittings on a 69
Mustang with 4 wheel drum brakes. I'm talking about the fitting on the
outside of the frame rail where the rubber line going to the wheel attaches.
My car is a racecar and this winter's project is to ditch the front drum
brakes for some aftermarket disks. I want to use braided stainless brake
lines and they all come in AN style fittings. I need to know the correct
size so I can get the proper AN adapter. The Wilwood calipers I plan to
use already use a -3AN fitting so I will only need an adapter for the
braided line to steel factory line connection.
Thanks,
David Cole
