Hello All!
I'm looking to replace the carb on my '66 coupe. Mustangs
Unlimited has the stock Ford 1100 1V, as well as two Holly models (#s 1909
and 1940). Anyone have thoughts/suggestions/experience that could help me
decide which carb to buy? (BTW, I'm having to do this because of an
unnecessary amount of stupidity: by letting the car sit for 18months -
instead of immediately doing a two-day tranny repair - a perfectly good
carb died. Needless to say: a stitch in time ... )
Thanks for any feedback (except where it relates to my stupidity)
Mike Weise
Midnight Blue '66 six
PS. I posted a while back re a car-cranks-but-wont-start problem. Fixed
that after replacing the starter and ignition solonoid (in that order; if
I had to do it again I'd do it the other way around). Thanks to all who
responded to my request for help.

This is an easy one. Stick with the original Ford 1100 1V....
The Holley's may not accept the stock air cleaner, and will dump more gas in
your engine than necessary.. Thus ruining your gas milage on your Peppy
Economic six-banger... What's your best bet???
Rebuild your old carb... The 1100 is a joke....to rebuild that is....
The rebuilding kit costs $17 bucks, and is made by BORG WARNER, or STANDARD
motor parts....or KEM.. They are both very good kits... Either one should
do the trick... Always works for me..... I presently own 3 Six cylinder
fords..... Two '69 Falcon Futuras, and a '66 Mustang Hardtop....
Your local PEPBOYS, or any other Autoparts store should have them..
Get a shop manual before you rebuild..
Tony.
