It eliminates the points.

Thus it could be called a 'pointless' endeavour...eye rolling smiley

Points wear out and need adjusting. One less thing to worry about.

++++++++++++++++

I currently have a dual-point, no vacuum advance Accel distributor on my early
65 (with generator). What issues would be expected with installing the
Pertronix ignitor on this setup?

I'm using the same distributer on my 289 HiPo. I checked about
Pertronix being used on the Accel unit while talking to a supplier.
They said that it would fit only in the stock Ford distributer....guess
it's time to rebuild the old dual-point Autolite...

Anyone have any further info on using Pertronix on an Accel such as
described above..?
