Hi

I am changing the interior colour of my 65 coupe from
palomino to black. I am wondering if the dash,
ashtray, doors, rear panels and steering column can be
painted by hand or is this something I get done when I
get the body painted?

I did notice that my local mustang parts store has
interior paint list in spray cans...

Thanks
Sue

I painted ours with spray can paint. We went from
that turquoise blue to white. I used white primer
over the sanded dash then the finish paint. It worked
great. The steering column I painted with satin black
bumper paint. Hey, it was what I had on the shelf...
Did the pedal arms at the same time. Looks great.

Hi Rick

"I used white primer over the sanded dash"

I have never painted anything like this before, sorry
if this seems like a silly question but...

What kind of primer did you use and what kind of sand
paper do I use to sand the metal parts?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Hi Guys

Thanks for the info on painting the interior.

Here is what I am thinking of trying.

I am going to paint the sun visors. I have a few
bottles of 65 black interior spray paint that I used
to paint the interior rear quarter panels, can I use
this paint on the sun visors?

My current seat belts are in great shape but they are
the wrong colour. I was thinking about trying to take
them apart and dye the belt part black with some kind
of black fabric dye and paint the plastic part black.
Is this a good idea?

If all else fails I will just buy new repo parts.

I just finished recovering the seats last night and
they look great. I can hardly wait until Spring so I
can get my new floor boards welded in and get the car
painted.

Thanks
Sue

Sue,

If your going to paint flexible items like the sun visors then you should
probably use some vinyl style paint which has some sort of flex agent in it
that will reduce the cracking that might occur.
