I am a long time reader of this list but have not posted recently. I will be
taking my ’69 Mustang (coupe) to the shop Monday to get a complete paint job
in its original candy apple red. This weekend I will be taking off all the
exterior decorations, bumpers, etc.
I need some advise on how some particular parts are painted. What type of
black paint should be used on the rear window molding? Should it be gloss
black with the same type of paint the body is done with? What about the front
license plate bracket?
I’m also wondering how the quarter panel ornaments are painted. Do the insides
of these parts (behind the fins) need to be painted black like the above parts
or just left in its natural black?
I always enjoy reading this list and hope you can help me out. I think I’m
getting paranoid in getting this paint job done properly (by far the single
most expensive part of the restoration…ouch!). Just want to get everything
done correctly.

Hey Patrick, I've only had one coupe, the rest we're fastbacks,
but what rear window molding is painted?
Good luck w/ your new paint job!
Just curious,
Randy
