Also check the pitman arm seal/bushing. I had a unit that would only
leak in one direction.

It seems that the bushing was out of round (previous accident or hard
curb parking job in the past - unknown) and the unit would leak only if
sufficient force was placed on the unit to over ride the seal's
elasticity.

example: I could turn the wheels back and forth, normal vehicle weight
on the tires, and watch a small amount of fluid squirt out only in one
direction and only at a particular point in the travel.

This made for a very elusive leak. I would find fluid - occasionally -
where I parked, never on the driveway into or out of the yard: rolling
helped reduce the pressure on the pitman arm enough therefore no leak.
And, there would be times when I would require fluid frequently (every
1-2 months) and other times I could go a year without adding fluid.

'Liked to drove me further off the deep end.....
