I can't get the horn on my '71 Mach to work. It has a 2-spoke wheel and I
installed a new switch in the steering wheel. All other electrical things
on the car work fine.

Any ideas?

Do the horns work if you hook a wire lead from it right to the battery?

According the manual there is no relay.... so if the horns
work and the switch works, you have a broken wire somewhere...
Got VOM?

Be sure that you have a good ground on the horns. I had that problem
once.

My horns had many problems. First, the horn ring in the steering wheel
had arced to death from the inductive sparking when the horn was turned
on and off (bad design). Second, the horns themselves were filled with
sand and out of adjustment (the screw on the side). Third the horns no
longer had any kind of good ground connection.

I fixed it by using a relay (less current through the horn ring, so even
bad rings will usually work), grounding it well and coating the area
with grease (or silicon after mounting), and reconditioning my horns.

To recondition them, just hit them on the ground a few times to knock
the sand and road dust loose, then turn them in the direction of the
spiral so that the sand and dust can come out of the horn. Then power
them up. If they sound good, remount them. If they sound anemic or
weak, stuff a rag into the opening (so you don't go deaf) and carefully
adjust the contactor bolt on the side. If it's too tight it will short
out the horn. If it's too loose, it will not make any contact. Right
in the middle it should sound right.

Did you put a volt meter on the horn connection to see if you're getting
voltage there when the steering wheel is pressed?
