Hi,
I'm new to the list. In fact I don't even own a Mustang yet. I may have
located a 1968 that I am interested in. I don't know what motor or
transmission it has yet. What sort of things should I look for as far as
typical problem areas?
Is there a FAQ area for this mailing list?
I'm interested in putting a larger engine in it some day. What would my
options be? 351? 390? 427?
Anyone know of any Mustang or Ford shows coming up in SoCal?

Doug,
If you really think you want to run a big block someday (gas eating,
over heating, etc.) you might be better off to spend more and get a big
block car to start with. In any case, you definitely want to start with
a V-8 car. 6-cyl cars have smaller brakes, smaller radiators, 4-bolt
wheels, soft springs and whimpy rear-ends. All of which would have to be
replaced if you wanted to convert to a V-8.

Doug,

As far as the '68, I would examine the shock towers for hairline cracks.
Almost all '67/'68's have cracks (maybe other years too), but it is just a
matter of deciding to what extent you are willing to invest in repairing
them or just putting up with them if they aren't that bad.
Every April, the best of the best Ford shows is held at Knott's Berry Farm
in Buena Park. The show is aptly named Fabulous Fords Forever. It is
absolutely huge and has just about every kind of Ford you could ever see in
one place. I showed my car at the show, or at a minimum, attended it for
eight continuous years! That is, until I moved to Texas.
