My name is Edgar Gomez, I have 32 years old, I live in Mexico City,
and 5 years ago I bougth a 65 mustang coupe, the car was in regular
condition and I am trying to restor it to its maximum.

I have been subscribed to this list about a month ago, and I am
amazed for all the knowledge you guys have about mustangs, and even
more, some times I dont even understand the terminology.

So, in order to learn your lenguage, I wold like to know if you can
recomend me some books to learn about it. The only ones I have is the
mustang recognition guide, and I wiring diagram manual, but I think that
books with exploded views and names of the parts will be of much use,
besides books on how the carburator works internally (more technicall).

And the little catch is that I have to buy on stores that deliver to
Mexico via UPS or FEDEXP or DHL, etc. NOT the mexican mail because I had
very bad experiences with it. (6 month wait periods IF the parts
arrive).

Thanks for your time to read this message, and nice to meet
you.

Post the questions and we will help and recommend books based on
your qestions. There are a lot of books (John, are you going to
send out your recommended list again?) and it may not make sense
to list *all* books when you only need a few.

Welcome Edgar! We'd be glad to help you. And since my company has an
office in Mexico City, if I'm ever sent there, I'll be checking on your
progress.

Neither did most of us until we started reading, talking to others and restoring

our cars. Learning what to do, doing it, then showing someone else is all part
of the fun, IMHO.

Learning the English language from Mustang restoration books is a
questionable proposition; but you will figure out how to restore your
car. Towards your English education, I've corrected a few spelling
and other mistakes, and underlined them. I know more about Mustangs
than the English language, however.

I'd get
1.the Shop Manual for 1965
2."The Mustang Restoration Handbook" by Wilson & Taylor (HPBooks)
3."How to Restore Your Mustang" by Editors of Mustang Monthly (CA Mustang Pub)
4. A subscription to Mustang Monthly magazine (Petersen)
5. A subscription to Mustangs& Fords magazine (Petersen)
6. A subscription to Mustangs Illustrated magazine (Argus)

You're going to need a good evaluation of your car's condition; #2 will show you
how
to do that. Then you'll need to make a plan, much like writting a program or
designing
a system. Then you'll create a schedule, outlining what part of car you are
going to
work on in what order. When you get that far, you can start purchasing books,
videos,
etc. that will show you how do restore that part of the car.

There's a 4 video set that I purchased after watching it on public TV called
"The Classic Car Shop", where two mid-western shop teachers purchase
then restore a 66 Mustang convertible, from disassembling the car to painting
it and reassembling it. They don't do any engine or heavy mechanical work,
nor any interior work, but they do stripping, welding, body alignment, metal
bumping, etc. and they show all the tools and supplies needed. It was $80
for the 13 1-hour segments on 4 VHS video tapes. The station was WMVS-
WMVT. I'll get you the address if you want to buy it.

Hope this helps!
