First, thanks to all who responded on the 5 questions I posed regarding
the Emberglo '66 GT 2+2! Very useful information!!!

Now for an update. My Bro-in-law took it for a spin last night (who is
fairly knowledgable about older cars) and came up with the following:
- No smoke from 109,000 mile engine, at startup and after warming up.
Started right up :-)
- Brakes were firm and did not pull :-)
- No rust whatsoever. The car has always resided in Arizona :-)
- Steering was good, not too loose :-)
- Engine ran sorta rough, didn't quite straighten out after warming up.
The owner claims he did a tune up recently,
but didn't adjust the points or check the timing, my bro-in-law
thinks it could be timing :-|
- Cosmetics: seam separating on each pony seat, about 1" separation,
dash cracked in 2 places, headliner has
holes, chips in doors, no dings, no dents, never wrecked, engine bay
kinda dirty, everything's there and matches up,
all paperwork from original sale included.
- It was repainted at a less than reputable shop sometime in the past.
Overspray is evident where pieces were masked
instead of removed. I'm not too concerned about this for my daily
driver - a good future project!
- The car is advertised for sale. Does this imply a lower asking price
than if I approached him?
Options:
- GT package
- Pony interior
- Factory A/C
- Automatic tranny (C4)
- 3.00 rearend (nothing special)
- No console, rally pack, etc. AM radio.
Plans:
- Have a shop do compression test, check brakes, steering, tranny, etc.
Document the findings.
- Either tow car back on trailer or have it shipped by an auto
transporting company ($$$?)
- Photos arrive to me tomorrow. Can't wait to see!!!
- If all goes well, talk about a solid price with the guy based on shop
results, and get it in writing!!!

I don't know specifics on the car rating system (maybe someone could
post it to the list?), but my guess is between a 3 and 4 perhaps. So
what do you think? I'm still trying to get a feel for a decent price.

Thanks for the moral support!!!
