Fear not, Mallory isn't going anywhere. In fact, Mr. Gasket intends to
step up marketing efforts which should improve availability of Mallory
products.
It was a long story, but as I recall, Mallory declared bankruptcy to
protect themselves from Super Shops' creditors when that company filed
bankruptcy. As a subsidiary of Super Shops, Mallory would have been
liquidated along with whatever other assets SS had. I'm unsure of how
these business bankruptcys work, but it seems that Mallory stood a
better chance of staying in business by doing this. Seems to have
worked.
I suppose Mr. Gasket could eliminate the Mallory name if they wanted
to, but it seems to me that they'd be foolish to throw away the fine
reputation and history of these products. Two of my Ford-powered cars
run Mallory ignitions.

Hmmm, so I guess I should hang on to that Comp 9000 distributor I just
yanked eh? It's a cool looking piece of work...mongo billet base and seemed
to work fine...just couldn't get a cap & rotor on short notice.
