FYI for the list:

I just completed installing the MagnaFlow exhaust kit for the 64.5 -
66 (Magnaflow part #15815, magnaflow.com/02product/
shopexd.asp?zone=American&id=838) [2.5" pipe diameter] on my 65
coupe. I purchased it from Mustangs Plus for $479 (which in itself is
odd because magnaflow's website says $629) and it came with a pre-
welded X-pipe (the pipes connecting the X-pipe to the mufflers were
welded on), two Magna Flow mufflers, exhaust tips, tail pipe
extensions and all the necessary hardware (clamps, bolts, hangers),
sort of.

I topped these off up front with Shelby-style Tri-Y headers, ceramic-
coated 2.5" collectors: static.summitracing.com/global/images/

Here's the problems I had:

- The inlet pipes (connecting the X to the headers) would not work.
They came out far too wide to mate up with the header collectors. I
took them to a muffler shop to be bent and even that wouldn't have
worked. The end result was having to get two new pipes bent and
installed. Supposedly the pipes that come with the kit bolt up
perfectly to the stock manifolds, though I still think they came out
too wide for even those.

- The hangers for the tail pipes supplied with the kit were too
short. I've got the threaded holes in the rear frame rails for tail
pipe hanger brackets so naturally I was going to hang the tail pipe
hanger bracket from there, but it was too short. In fact, it was too
short for mounting it *anywhere* with either a bolt or a weld.

I started the installation myself then wound up taking it over to a
local muffler shop to finish the job. They solid-welded every joint
(instead of using clamps) and installed the whole system for $175.

The Magnaflow kit is relatively new product at Mustangs Plus so I'll
be following up with them Monday morning about my installation issues.

The end result, though, is a wonderful look and sound. I'll have
pictures later on, and some sounds as soon as I can find a decent way
to capture sound on my mac...
