Hi List,
I'm just about finished with my 4yr resto. on my 70 Mach.
I still need one last trim part and can't find it anywhere. I need the
vertical stainless steel weatherstrip channel that attaches to the rear edge
of the drivers side window. If anyone knows where to find one I would
appreciate a message or call. This part is the same on both 69's and 70
sportsroof cars so if anyone has a parts car and needs some extra cash let
me know.
Thanks,
Jim

Jim,

Just so you know, there are two different styles
of this trim. I've had several sets of these over the
years trying to make one good set. I'll describe these
as thick and thin. Dimensionally they are the same, the only
difference is how wide the slot or opening is for them
to slide on the glass. This is the thick or thin part.

The door glass must also be different too to accommodate this.
I've never figured out if it's a year thing, 69 vs. 70, or a
coupe vs fastback thing or whatever....

It's been years, but I'll guess my '70 has the 'thick' style.
It's an early build, Michigan car.

There are many 'looks the same but they're different'
parts on 69-70's. The cup size of the 'deluxe' door
panels, and the remote control knob of the side mirror
just to name two parts on the door alone.

If you run into a jam let me know, I'll look through my spare
parts box to see what I have.

Good Luck.

Randy
Central Ohio.

Baer Sport system (12" rotor) - the bracket that bolts up to the spindle
doesn't quite fit - it interferes with the spindle. Has anyone else
experienced this. Note that I have the correct spindle (tried on another 66
and had same issue), and Baer says the parts are correct but they also say
they "have never heard of this before."
I am looking for some independent info - if anyone has done this I'd
appreciate hearing about whether you had this problem or not. (Note that I
can remove some material from the spindle, but first I want to know what
truth is).

Possibilities I can think of:
(1) Baer is not being straightforward (seems likely to me).
(2) There is some spindle manufacturing variance and the couple I have tried
have all had the same variance and Baer has never sold a kit to someone with
this variance or no one has ever reported it to them (seems very very
unlikely).
(3) Baer sent me the wrong part, and doesn't know it or won't admit it (also
seems unlikely).

Any other ideas?

Thanks for any help,

Dave

I've got one, still in original packaging, for a '70 Mach 1 but don't know
at the moment which side it is for. Contact me directly (so I don't forget)
at (email redacted) and I'll check tonight which one it is.

Jim,
I'm not trying to sound like a smart-ass but are you sure you need this
part? I thought I did but found it laying at the bottom of the door when I
removed the inner panels. I hear it is very common for them to get stripped
off the edge by the weatherstripping. Mine dived into that space several
more times until I found an adhesive that worked.

If memory serves me I think only the 70 sportsroof had this particular
piece--on 69 I think the seal was on the quarter glass. I have only seen
that particular piece at Carlisle and it was EXPENSIVE.

When I bought my 69 Mach I it was missing this piece and I
also seem to recall it was on the quarter glass. Dealer ordered
and replaced it as part of the sale.

All,

You know, it's the little things that drive you nuts.

Can someone w/ a '69 (sports roof body style) either
confirm or deny the location of this trim.

Is there a piece of trim on the end of the door glass
- or - is this trim on the quarter window?

Regards,
Randy

The trim goes on the door glass in 1969 and on the
quarter glass for 1970. I think the 1970 convertible
is the exception, with trim on the window.

Randy/all
I have a '69 Mach with '70 glass. (long story - don't ask, no one
believes it anyway) On the rear end of the front glass is a stainless steel
channel. One side of the channel attaches to the glass and the other side
contains a piece of rubber. The pivoting vent window in the back has no
rubber on it - it seals on the rear and bottom when pulled into a
boomerang-shaped rubber gasket. There is no rubber on the front edge - only
chrome. The rubber on the front window is shaped like a sideways "L". The
bottom of the "L" fits between the stainless steel channel and the chrome
face of the rear frame. The vertical section of the "L" is pressed against
the outside face of the rear chrome frame when the door is closed. Hope
this helps.

Sorry, they're both windows. I meant that the 1970
convertible trim still goes on the door glass (I
think).

Just went out and took a look. The rubber part is on the rear of the door
glass. The quarter window's piece is metal edging only, no rubber.

I heard from someone else that had to remove a little material from the
spindle (also on a 66). That's what I'll do too.

Hey Guys,
Thanks for all of the great replies. Just to answer a few of the questions
back. I know that it attaches to the rear of the driver window, because (now
comes the hard part) after trying to reglue it back on during my highschool
years in the '70's I stored it in a box and you guessed it, after several
moves and with the car in storage for 15 years and rotting away with no
money or thoughts of restoring it. The boxes got thrown out and the infamous
part as well. There now you know the whole story. I am the idiot that is now
responsible for tossing out my most needed part to date. So thats's how I
know that it isn't in the bottom of the door. There I've confessed but don't
feel any better. By the way Jon E. I'll be contacting you. Thanks for all

I've got one, still in original packaging, for a '70 Mach 1 but don't know
at the moment which side it is for. Contact me directly (so I don't forget)
at (email redacted) and I'll check tonight which one it is.
