The good news....I think everything went well with my timing chain
replacement. I flushed the engine too to get rid of some of the crud that I
saw. Hope it holds out okay.

The Bad news...as I was getting onto the highway this morning my hood popped
open. Not a good thing at 50mph. I did manage to get to the side of the road
without killing myself or anyone. Looks like real minor damage...some paint
chips at the rear of the hood and cowl and one or two on the fenders. Luckily
it didn't take out the windshield. So the hood is now pushed back and down
anout 3/4 inch at the rear on the drivers side. Hope the hinges arent toast.
Get to work on that now sad smiley
Thats how my day started

I thought things like that only happened to me.
Remember you're alive and metal can be fixed.
Sorry to hear about that though.

Sorry to hear that.  I have hood locks on my '69 that look nice and are also
functional.  As someone else wrote, make sure the areas where the latch meets the
hood hook is very solid.  I've seen a few hoods that -for some reason -are
bondo'ed in that area.
