hi guys,
1. does anyone in the SF Bay Area have an aluminum intake for sale?
this is for my son's 66 Coupe. it's a bone stock motor, daily driver.
2. has anyone had any luck with the packaged exhaust systems that
include pipes, muffler? like the ones from National Parts depot. we
have a great local muffler shop, but they are a little pricey.

thanks, "for evil to triumph,

I bought the complete dual exhaust system for my 67 convertible from NPD and
couldn't be happier with it. Everything fit exactly.

I'd also like to know about packaged exhaust systems. Jegs has a mandrel bent 2 1/2" aluminized dual system for $169. I have never seen a local muffler shop that can do mandrel bends so you always end up with those hideous squeezed down sections.

i bought a similar system from summit. the kit was only for use with headers
, so read the fine print or call and ask jegs if it will work with stock
manifolds.....if that is what you have.
the summit kit fit great except i have tri-y headers and the passenger
side headers comes back at an angle. the kit came with a straight h-pipe tube
and a v-shaped tube(for clearing drive shafts). i had plenty of room so i used
the straight tube and as luck would have it , the v-shaped tube had the exact
angle to it to use for the "crooked" header. it took a little fabricating but
all worked out well. if i had headers that came straight back the kit would
have fit perfectly.

If it fit out of the box, it wouldn't be an aftermarket part. I have yet to
find one that "bolts right up".

Someone on another forum mentioned that he'd been through about a dozen sets of mufflers (Flowmaster, Borla, MAC, Magnaflow, etc.) trying to find ones that wouldn't drone while crusing on the highway. The cheap generic turbo mufflers from Summit were the best he found. How does your car sound?

It's been a while now, but I got the whole exhaust kit from CJ Pony Parts. It was very economical ($169 - $199, can't remember now), came complete with "H" Pipe, generic turbo style mufflers, and all the clamps and hangers It went on simply and perfectly without any fabrication. I used it with stock manifolds, and now am getting ready to adapt it for use with Tri-Y's.

Sounds like a nice kit, I too have an exhaust that needs an upgrade. I am
running a 18 year old exhaust
that used to be headers and glass packs, now it is thin pingy headers and
straight pipes as I know those
glass packs are not doing much these days.
