Yet again my 73 ignition key travelled beyond where is should, making the
key impossible to remove and draining the battery overnight. Hagerty
allows 3 tows a year so off to Ft Lauderdale,22 miles away. There,Phil,my
trusted guy for the last 15 years AGAIN took it apart and reset it.
Sadly, it really needs the gear and small rack inside the
column......Brass...so its worn enough to jump out of the other part.
This is,of course, not available in any catalog.... So-anyone have info
on these bits,or an old working column or gears for purchase? Thanks,
Adrian in Ft Lauderdale.FL

i would go on the net for salvage yards and seach out one. I know
there are a lot of them in the southern U.S. A. I think there is a place called
Texas Mustangs or something similiar to that which sells used parts. I got a
proportioning valve for a fraction of the cost of a new one from them. Good
luck now.

Try NAPA as well; it is a long shot, but give it a try.
I got a switch mechanism there years ago.
