Eddie,

Its hard to tell from your message whether any carb work was done. I'm assuming (dangerous word!) that no carb work was done, only trans work.

If your auto trans has a vacuum modulator at the back of the transmission, then there is a vacuum line going usually from the back of the intake down to the back of the trans. If that vacuum hose is left unconnected, or is broken, then you have a massive air leak which can make your idle high, and maybe lean enough to run hot too. Check that hose.

Hope this helps,

That then begs the question: What's a C8 transmission?

I thought it was a typo for C6....

Sounds like a vacuum leak, check for a vacuum hose leaking, could be the
hose to the modulator valve on the transmission.

That then begs the question: What's a C8 transmission?

I thought it was a typo for C6....

Eddie,

As others have said, check for vacuum leaks at all possible locations, including any port tubes on the carb itself that *may* have rubber caps on them. Also check for binding of your throttle linkage to make sure the linkage is really returning back to idle position. You can also check to make sure your secondary throttle plates are not hanging open either (with the engine not running, shine a flashlight down into the secondaries).

Also, another confusing point----what do you mean by "...heating up too quickly"?

think you mech. is off his rocker...
Transmission Code:
Code Description
1= 3 Speed Manual
5= 4 Speed Manual
6= 4 Speed Manual Close Ratio
U= C-6 Automatic
W= C-4 Automatic
X= FMX Automatic

I believe the mech. miss read that 6 code for a 8 so that means you have a 4
speed Manual Close Ratio... I know this is a little far fetched but check
the vin and see if you have a match.
