I've got 4 wheel power drums on my 65.
I was trying to bleed out the system this afternoon (fluid had been in
there ~ 2.5 years). First thing I noticed was my right front and right
left are different sizes (right front is a 1/4" no problem, the left
front???) 1/4" was too small, 5/16" was too big. I figured metric but
none of those worked either. Finally I surrendered to the almighty
vice grip....and promptly snapped it right off.
It never moved in the threads - just snapped off and above the valve ,
so I'm not leaking brake fluid but not entirely assured it will stay
that way. I should have sprayed them down with some penetrating oil
first.
I can't move either rear screw either, and again the same problem -
3/8 too small 7/16th too big no metric seems to fit either (MAYBE
11mm, but not sure - I was pretty whacked out about the snap in the
front that I didn't try as hard as I should)
1. Has anyone had this problem before? Am I looking at removing the
whole back plate and everything? Doesn't seem as if I have enough room
to remove it. I'm also worried about metal particles in the brake line
after I remove it. What's the best way to get it out of there? Easy out?
2. Does anyone know the CORRECT socket and/or wrench to use?
3. Are bleeder screws readily available at napa, chucks, kragen,
autozone or do I have to go fish at a mustang parts house?
If I didn't have a vacation coming up to pay for I'd take this as an
excuse, get the discs and be done with it.... ;-)
Thanks in advance for your help.

Brandon,
I would replace the wheel cylinders with new ones.
They are readily available at most auto parts stores.
If you use any grease or anti seize compound on the threads of the bleeder
screws try to keep it on the screws and out of the wheel cylinder itself.
You do this by controlling the amount material that you use. Remember you
want on the threads not in the wheel cylinder.
