All kidding aside, I have never heard a good way to tell, and I am getting
ready to buy a new differential for my 66 coupe. How do I know if it is an
8.8" or a 9" rear end?

Thought they where 8" or 9" Erik?

Should be able to use the Ident tag right?

yes, i also thought the 8.8 was a modern axle housing...
